Innovation and integration in Automatic ID
Automatic identification (ID) provides the critical link between the physical and computerised worlds of business. Reliability and functionality are absolutely key to the production and use of identification methods. Many businesses therefore choose thermal printing technology as the most flexible and efficient way to on which to base their identification systems.
As a division of the Toshiba TEC Corporation in Japan (Est. 1950), Toshiba TEC Europe Retail Information Systems S.A. is a leader in automatic ID and printing systems. Our headquarters are in Belgium, with branch offices in many European countries. We pride ourselves in continually developing innovative solutions for our customers and providing a very high level of dedicated after-sales support.
Our wide range of thermal printers used all over the world for everything from simple office labelling, through barcoding products and cartons for storage and distribution, up to high speed automatic print-and-apply ID. In response to our research into the future requirements of the key industries we work with, Toshiba TEC have developed many technological advances in thermal printing.
RFID
Radio frequency identification (RFID) labelling combines the visibility and permanence of a barcode with the flexibility of an embedded tag, which is interrogated without the need for line-of-sight. The RFID tag forms part of the barcoded label, and using our RFID-enabled printers data can be written to the tag as the barcode is printed simultaneously.
PORTABLE PRINTING
Many companies require on-demand portable barcode printing, and we work with their existing networks and handheld device manufacturers to provide an integrated solution. The interfaces we provide in these systems are primarily infrared and radio frequency, with further developments to include Bluetooth and 802.11b protocols.
LASER PRINTER EMULATION
The huge cost savings that can be realised by replacing a laser label printing system with thermal technology prompted the development of an emulation board for our latest A4-sized label printer. This allows a swift and effortless integration of a thermal printer into a previously laser environment. Incorporated in the design is a removable power supply, providing a wide format thermal module for use in kiosk and ATM environments.
PRINT AND APPLY
Anticipated growth in the requirement for automated labelling on production lines resulted in our inline print module, providing a flexible high-speed industrial component for the latest manufacturing applications.
INTERNET INTEGRATION
Supporting the huge numbers of thermal printers within a large world-wide company is no longer a logistical nightmare. Our Enhanced range of industrial printers can be interrogated and sent print-jobs using an Intranet or the Internet.
EMAIL COMMUNICATION
Our Enhanced printers now have the ability to receive print jobs by email, and send out maintenance alerts to designated email accounts or even mobile phones, efficiently managing these business-critical systems.
XML SYSTEM COMPATIBILITY
Translation and printing of XML-formatted data is now essential for some of our larger customers. We anticipated this shift by introducing this function into our latest industrial range.
ADDED VALUE
Technological advances are only part of our strategy for the future development and implementation of automatic ID. One of our strongest missions is to provide essential added value to our systems by means of local and specialised customer service.
THE WAY FORWARD
With business systems continually becoming more complex and demanding, we continue to treat our customers as our partners, whilst further developing strong relationships with other automatic ID suppliers in order to offer the most complete and fully compatible solutions.
