Fresno County Chooses Marathon to Deliver 24/7 Uptime for Critical Public Safety Applications
BOXBOROUGH, Mass., USA — June 13, 2003 —
Marathon Technologies Corporation, Inc., the developer and supplier of the industry’s only fault- and disastertolerant solutions for Microsoft® Windows® environments, today announced that the Fresno County, California, Human Services System—Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has selected Marathon Endurance® product to protect its critical computer-aided dispatch center from hardware failure, software faults, and disasters.
The Fresno County EMS Center uses a state-of-the-art system to give its dispatch professionals immediate, life-saving information they need to dispatch the appropriate response teams to emergency scenes. “Even a few seconds of downtime would disrupt communications and deprive our dispatchers of critical information that can protect our response personnel and potentially save lives,” said Claudia Favors, Senior Information Technology Analyst, Fresno County IT Services Department. “The Endurance product delivers continuous, uninterrupted service to our dispatchers throughout a fault or failure without losing any data.”

Prior to using the Marathon Endurance product, the Fresno County EMS Department used a cluster solution to protect their system from downtime. This system was vulnerable to hardware failures, required extensive administrative and maintenance services, and did not support the standard remote monitoring tools the Fresno IT Services Department needed. By switching to the Endurance product Fresno County can use their Dell Open Management remote monitoring tools, and their choice of server hardware brand, Windows applications and Windows OS. “Endurance passed our stringent testing before going online and it has exceeded our expectations for performance,” said Favors.
