Hawaii Fire Departments Receive Kidde Mobile Live Fire Burn Training Trailers
Mobile live burn trailers in Hawaii are increasing the fire response and readiness of island firefighters.
Mobile live burn trailers in Hawaii are increasing the fire response and readiness of island firefighters. The Maui Fire Department and the Honolulu Fire Department each purchased a Kidde Mobile FIRETRAINER® with 2002 and 2004 (respectively) FIRE Act Assistance to Fire Fighters Grant Program funds.
Mauis mobile live burn trailer, Malama, provides their firefighters
with invaluable fire training experience.
Maui and Honolulu firefighters can practice firefighting skills in realistic live fire-burning conditions, yet do so in a safe and environmentally sound manner. The fire training simulators burn clean-burning LPG propane gas. The Maui trailer, nicknamed Malama, also keeps the firefighters safer as they train. Advanced computer controls monitor the training environment during the live burn. In the event of an unsafe condition, the computer automatically shuts down the training exercise and ventilates the heat and smoke from the fire training simulator.
Because the trailer can be transported from station to station, a large number of firefighters can receive the training while they are on duty. A barge can transport the trailer to other islands to offer this critical live burn training experience to as many firefighters as possible.
Kidde Fire Trainers has delivered numerous mobile live fire burn simulators through the grant program. Kidde Fire Trainers is the worlds leading supplier of live fire training systems and centers, with the broadest array of fire training solutions.
Honolulus mobile live fire training system. The trainer is fuelled with clean-burning propane and produces intense fire training scenarios.
