Linux based Triplex DVR Provectus 5000 AS Series

Provectus, the Linux based solution representing industry-leading and cutting-edge security solution. As the name suggests, it is an advanced series of Digital Video and Audio Recorders.

What's different about our system?

Well to answer that question we must first explain the concept upon which the system was built. The idea was to build a revolutionary DVR with networking functionality, also to include some basic functions like motion detection, e-mailing etc. but to make it as flexible as possible for future upgrade. So we took two major defining parts of the system and made them amendable. So both the GUI of the system is skin based and the major functionality of the system is plug-in based. So now we have a system whose appearance can be completely changed in a matter of minutes and whose functionality can vary from system to system based solely on the user’s preference. Another part of the Provectus concept is the usage of the Linux OS as a basis platform. The idea of using Linux is not revolutionary but the way in which we use Linux is. Basically, we took advantage of the system stability and the network safety that Linux platforms offer and all of the parts that weren't user friendly we replaced with our own system. So now we have a DVR that is as secure as possible on the network and still simple enough to use that there is no need for any advanced training.

Now that the concept of the Provectus has been explained, it's easier to track all of the advantages of it's subsystems like motion detection, recording, transmission etc. The following information will introduce some of the basic features of the system.

Motion Detection

This is one of the most important options our video server software offers. All you need to do is to define your preferences within the software displays and simply adjust sensitivity settings.

One very flexible option is defining sensitivity areas with motion detection matrices on the camera view that will trigger recording.

In order to prevent false notifications on detected motion, we also utilise block size motion detection, in order to compare its results with the pixel size motion detection data and only if those two match, notifications are sent further on… naturally to the previously defined E-mail addresses.

Advanced Video Analysis

As users and requirements become more demanding in the real-world, we have enabled the system to be future-proof. That is, adding advanced video analysis and search features such as object recognition and tracking will be as simple process.

Recording

Our system has a fixed recording frame rate for each camera – PAL/NTSC: 25/30 fps implying there 400/480 fps for the total of 16 cameras per server. Within the settings of each channel you may define whether you choose non-stop recording or motion triggered recording, besides what you define on how many channels you want audio trigger to be on. Server supports 24-7 both motion detection & audio level triggered recording. To ensure the intelligent use of the HDD space, in order to capture only the subject of your interest on each channel, there is a fantastic option of painting the motion detection sensitivity masks. Their contouring is much smoother than the rigid grid mask which enables you to perfectly mask out the trees for example in case you do not wish the recording on a camera to be triggered by the shaking of the trees. Notifications of the status of the cameras can be executed to the multiple E-mail addresses.

Display

The Video Server enables simultaneous display of video streams on all running cameras. The system has video auto-correction settings meaning that colour saturation, balance, exposure etc. are auto-corrected.

Perfect options in combination with the OEM logo display are the changing of the entire application’s visual identity – screen skin will be modified in order to display your company’s colours and logos.

Playback

Every video channel has its own playback control feature enabling the user to play different channels at different times, speeds, and directions. Alarm controllers can be integrated into the system enabling thereby multiple triggering schemes that support 16 alarm inputs and 8 outputs, pursuant to the matrix principle. The video stream slide-bar enables hyper-fast overview of the video recordings from the start of the video data base to the latest stream currently running on cameras.

Motion triggered frame indexing, previously defined by the paint sensitivity mask: frame by frame, second by second, fast forward, fast backwards…

Management

The secure part of the memory marked as READ-only memory doesn’t permit any data loss due to e.g. power loss. Another standard feature is the built-in Watchdog which initiates a restart of the system 20 seconds after any case of system operation cessation and preserves all relevant parameters as well as system stability.

For extra security, the system utilises three encryption algorithms i.e. 128 bit AES, MD5 checksum and BLANCOM encryption algorithms together with 3 separate Watermarks (2 digital and 1 visual) providing authenticity of the video recordings as well as security of the system and network communications.

Remote

Remote features are the most valuable ones. The first thing worth mentioning is the Multiple Client access, the BLANCOM Client supports up to 256 server connections. Secure TCP and UDP communications form the Video Server allow live view, search and settings options (statistics, live images, audio levels, etc.).

Additional security for communications over the network is SSH (Secure Shell Connections) connectivity to the server (encrypted communication between two hosts over the network).

Further development

As the demand for higher integration with other systems grows with each day, most of our efforts will be put into enabling communication with other systems like access control, alarm control, fire alarms etc. On the other hand we will also be working on higher level of video analysis which should soon enough include features such as: object recognition, object tracking and event analysis. And furthermore we plan to include facial recognition and other advanced features such as higher networking functions like usage of additional systems on LAN (TCP/IP) for video analysis
