Mountain cableways and municipality at Matterhorn count on LEGIC®
Successful LEGIC installation through official LEGIC partner Evva-Werk GmbH & Co. KG, Wien, Austria
At a first glance the administration of the Zermatt mountain cableways appears to consist of an enormous number of extremely different buildings. In addition to the main office building, there are a multitude of ski-lift facilities, smaller administration and maintenance buildings, control centers and also water control centers but which have one thing in common: The personnel, the service technicians and also the ski-lift attendants have to have unhindered access to their areas.
A considerable challenge for access controlling in such widespread areas that can impossibly all be connected on-line. This requirement already focused attention drawn on the SALTO technology of EVVA.
With its SALTO Virtual Network SVN the SALTO platform allows off- and on-line components to be combined with each other in a system like no other system on the market. On-line components are installed at neuralgic points such as main entrances and battery-operated off-line SALTO fittings at the doors so that extensive cabling is no longer necessary.
Specific programming of the identification media allows exact specification of which area can be accessed at which times. Since each contact between the reader and the identification medium also causes the most recent information state to be exchanged, the data of the on-line stations about the use of the identification media are also passed on to the other fittings.
A special SVN-updater function was installed in the main building of the Zermatt mountain cableways, the outlying points are equipped with off-line fittings. Through this function it is also possible to assign, delete or also reprogram access authorizations rapidly and securely.
But not only the SVN capability speaks for the SALTO (Smart Access Locking Technology) technology. Cards and key pendants are used as data media of the entire system. Segmenting of the cards made it possible to implement the access control with SALTO LEGIC and to also integrate the personal time acquisition software Zeit AG and the segmentation for SKIDATA i.e. the ski-lift ticketing on the same card The personnel is thus able to operate the time acquisition, access and the ski-lift control in the entire administrative area with only one card.
This system not only convinced the Zermatt mountain cableways completely of SALTO, the municipality of Zermatt itself also chose to equip the entire municipal area with SALTO. The advantages are obvious: With the SKIDATA ticketing segment the municipality employees can now easily carry out maintenance work in all the ski-lift stations of the region. Access authorizations, also with different time zones, can be managed easily. The LEGIC standard also convinces here through its flexibility and reliability.
The mountain cableways and also the municipality itself has chosen a technology platform that can be extended freely and has not by any means reached its limits with SALTO from EVVA security, organization and also ease in handling could be implemented optimally.¾
