A unique partnership between vehicle-mounted access specialist, Versalift, and 4 x 4 specialist, Fourtec, has brought a new mid-range off-road platform to the UK access market.

Teaming up with Bremach’s UK supplier, Fourtec Ltd, Versalift has adapted its ET36NF (12.5m working height) platform for the long awaited right-hand drive version of the Bremach Extreme 4x4, launched Spring 2005 in the UK. The ET36NF is available on the 5.0 tonnes GVW Extreme 50 and on the recently introduced 6.0 tonnes Extreme 60.

The ET36NF Bremach Extreme machines fill the gap between the Land Rover Defender and Unimog U300 and U3000 entry models. They provide significantly better payload and off-road capability than a Defender, without the leap to the much bigger, pricier Unimog.

Powerful

With its famously powerful Iveco Unijet turbo intercooled 2.8 litre diesel engine, the ET36NF Bremach Extreme is capable of getting crew and kit to the most isolated jobs. Efficient traverse times on the toughest terrain are partnered by excellent reach and productivity in the air from the ET36NF platform. A 12.5m working height and maximum outreach of 7.3m from the agile telescoping boom, plus 110 degree fly-boom and 360 degree rotation, give excellent reach envelope characteristics over alternative machinery. Even with rangy capabilities on the ground and in the air, spare payload is an impressive 750kg. The ample payload, coupled with front and rear power take-off, means that the vehicle can carry and power a wide range of equipment, from wood chippers to road sweepers.

The option of a walk-in bucket is also available to enhance operator comfort and convenience.

An ET38NF platform version is also available offering 13.8m working height, based on the extended wheelbase version (3400mm) of the Bremach Extreme 60.

Unique

Steve Kellett, Marketing Manager at Versalift, says: “The ET36NF Bremach Extreme is a unique and affordable solution for users, such as utilities and forestry companies, needing to mobilise platforms over long distances and then across difficult ground conditions to off-road work sites. This new generation vehicle-mount offers the speed of a more compact vehicle between sites together with the meatier rough terrain capabilities and carrying capacity of a bigger, normally cost-prohibitive off-road unit.”

A demonstration model, featuring the Bremach Extreme 50, is currently touring the UK. It will be on show at SED 2005 (May 17-19) on the Fourtec stand – Avenue R Stand 508.

Target users such as utility companies have enthusiastically received the ET36NF/Extreme 50 demonstrator.  Recognising its rental potential, Rise Hire has purchased an ET36NF on the 6 tonnes Extreme 60, the first on the UK rental market.

Robust

The Bremach Extreme is robust, simple to maintain and, with superb axle articulation, is an outstanding performer on any terrain. Powered by a 125CV engine with 290Nm of torque at 1800rpm, the six-speed gearbox is mated to a high/ low transfer box. It incorporates a splitter, effectively giving 24 forward and four reverse gears through permanent four-wheel drive.  Off-road capability is ensured with 255/ 10 R16 tyres fitted as standard and a full 280mm ground clearance.

Heavy duty disc brakes all-round (ventilated at the front) with dual circuit and ABS are standard.

The ABS can be disabled from the driver’s seat for true off-road use.  The powerful handbrake is mechanically operating via the rear-wheel drum in top-hat. Tubular longitudinal members run the whole length of the rigid ladder chassis. The Iveco Unijet 2.8l turbo inter-cooled diesel engine has common rail injection and complies with full Euro III emission regulations.

Bremach Extremes come with long (3400mm), medium (3000mm) or short wheelbase (2600mm). They can be specified by the customer in a choice of body styles, from single and double cab chassis to vans.
