Ammunition
This article shows you the different range of ammunition from Diehl BGT defence.
SMArt®155mm
The 155mm sensor-fuzed ammunition DM 702A1 with two submunitions each enables the artillery for the first time to engage stationary and mobile, camouflaged, semi-hard and hard targets with pinpoint accuracy and effectively in any environment and under any weather conditions with a minimum of rounds required. The two submunitions descending spirally on a parachute scan the target area with their triple seeker sensor unit autonomously for targets. The sensor algorithms are able to reliably identify armored combat vehicles, discriminate them from false targets and engage them even under difficult ambient and weather conditions. To avoid unexploded duds, the submunitions contain a redundant self-destruction capability. SMArt® 155mm is remarkable for its high hit accuracy and, owing to its self-forging fragment warhead, excellent penetration performance even against the most-modern battle tanks. When fired with the self-propelled howitzer 2000, the maximum range of the sensor-fuzed ammunition is 28km. The SMArt submunition can also be employed by other carriers such as airto-surface missiles or artillery rockets.

PELE®
PELE® - Penetrator with Enhanced Lateral Effect - is a new type of tube weapon ammunition technology without fuze and explosive. The combination of two materials of different density enable the projectile to be fragmented in the target even without using an explosive or a fuze. The penetration, response and fragmentation performance is higher than that of conventional ammunition. PELE® is a cost-effective ammunition technology with a very high safety potential. PELE® ammunition is offered by Diehl BGT Defence in the medium-caliber range. The ammunition is currently qualified in the calibers 20mm x 102mm and 27mm x 145mm.

40mm infantry ammunition
The 40mm x 53 DM 111 cartridge is a newly developed ammunition for engagement of infantry targets beneath camouflage and behind cover. The ammunition complies with STANAG 4404. It can be fired from all 40mm automatic grenade launchers. Due to identical external ballistics, the new ammunition used in a combat mix with HEDP (High Explosive Dual Purpose) ammunition covers the entire target range. The DM 431 fuze used is a high-sensitivity, high-explosive, mechanical impact fuze with pyrotechnical self-destruction, meeting the STANAG 3525 and MIL-Std. 1316 requirements. It fulfils all usual safety and functional criteria. The pyrotechnical self-destruction ensures that no duds remain in the terrain if there are unfavorable impact conditions.

Bunker buster
The bunker buster is a shoulder-fired ammunition for operations in urban terrain. The two-stage warhead with penetrating charge and followthrough grenade has been developed by Diehl BGT Defence specifically for engaging targets behind common building structures (MOUT). The bunker buster can be fired from closed rooms. The possible engagement range is between 11 and 600mtr. The application spectrum comprises targets in underground bunkers and in/behind fieldworks, behind reinforced concrete, brick and other walls, barricades, sandbag ramparts as well as light and unarmored vehicles.
