Close-in reconnaissance
This article demonstrates that with ParaSpy, Diehl BGT Defence offers a cost-advantageous and rapidly deployable solution for reconnaissance.
ParaSpy
The ParaSpy 40mm x 46 projectile is a quickresponse reconnaissance system for a radius of 250mtr within built-up areas. The projectile is fired from the AG36 automatic grenade launcher. Over the target area, time-controlled parachute opening and electronics activation is followed by descent during which images are recorded with mini-video cameras and transmitted by radio to the soldier's position. These video sequences can be displayed and stored on a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) in real time. The PDA is a central component of the basic equipment system for the "infantryman of the future". Hence, the soldier does not need any additional interfaces and control panels apart from a small telemetry receiver. A variant development of the ParaSpy for use in building interiors is conceivable. With ParaSpy, Diehl BGT Defence offers a cost-advantageous and rapidly deployable solution for reconnaissance of difficult nearby scenarios.
