LEGIC® expand in Asia Pacific market with new Shanghai office
LEGIC Identsystems Ltd, the worlds leading supplier of secure contactless smart card technology for personal identification applications, has opened a new office in Shanghai to handle its growing business within the Asia Pacific market.
The company is a major player in the Far East and continues to grow rapidly. LEGIC established its first Asia Pacific business unit in 1998 operating out of Singapore to service a growing client base, particularly in the Chinese market, which makes up more than 20 per cent of its total client base of more than 200 external co-operation partners world-wide. The Singapore office operated for five years before re-locating to Hong Kong in January 2003 following a decision by the company to move operations closer to China, its largest market in Asia. The new Shanghai office is a reflection of LEGICs commitment to the region and to being part of this dynamic and challenging market in the years to come.
LEGICs General Manager Asia, Bernard Chiang, comments: Asia is emerging very quickly as a trend setter in terms of using contactless smart cards for implementing sophisticated multiapplication projects in both public infrastructure projects and all-in-one-card projects in commercial environments. Requirements are diverse and challenging and with the adoption rate of contactless technology growing rapidly we need to be ever closer to our customers to service their requirements.
Stephen Neff, LEGIC Identsystems Vice President Sales & Business Development, says: We already have over 40 LEGIC licensees established in the Asia Pacific region and are continually talking with further companies who are keen to join us. This new office in Shanghai will enable us to focus on the strong Asia Pacific market as we look forward to meeting the growing demand for high security contactless smart card projects in the region.
