Europe’s Premier Security Technology Event

The security industry is undergoing its biggest change in decades as most CCTV, access control, fire and alarm products now feature networking capability. This small yet insignificant change is affecting the market dynamics like never before as technology can now be ‘joined together’ to create complementary and integrated solutions.

Why visit IIPSEC?
Security has never been so high up the agenda. Following the recent terror attacks in the UK the need for sophisticated, high performance surveillance and access control is clear. IIPSEC provides the industry with the unique opportunity to exchange ideas and explore the latest innovations, as well as giving security practitioners and end users a chance to experience for themselves state-of-art products, services and solutions.

For 2006, the focus is again on intelligent digital networked security technology. Ranging from IP CCTV, Biometrics solutions through to networked storage and archive devices and the latest in behavioural software technologies it’s the only place to be.

Quality Time with Quality People
In a pre-competitive, fast-emerging market, industry education is what matters most. IIPSEC is your gateway to planning, buying, installing and implementing IP-ready network based security and building solutions. The show is aimed at both the industry and end-user and features a wealth of companies keen to explain and demonstrate hardware and software solutions for a range of security and building management applications.

Convergence or Consolidation
The integration of Security, Surveillance, Access Control, Intruder & Fire Detection and other Building Management applications onto a single management technology is the future today. From a technology view point this is termed convergence, multiple systems utilising a common platform, protocol or communication technology.

You speak French, I speak German
One common argument concerning digital data is that systems do not directly communicate with each other. Different companies and industries have different standards and protocols and are not willing to share them. But this is a thing of the past! IP is by definition an open system a language that all can use and which has global recognition and acceptance and is opening up closed systems to the direct benefit of the users and stake holders.

Systems Integrators whether in the Security, Process or Building Management Sectors are using Networked technologies to bring together these systems generally with the cooperation of vendors and manufacturers and creating a new vision where cross-system communication is the norm, where your CCTV system talks to your access control systems which in turn talks to the lift management system which talks to the HVAC system and they all talk to the HR department, Payroll, IT and building maintenance. The same information which remained the domain of one function in the business is now available to all.

Adding Value through Networking
There are still some who believe that networked Security and BMS systems are a fad, that IP will never catch on or that the status quo is fine, but sure as eggs are eggs these are not the stake holders of the enterprises.

In truth the value of bringing together management systems onto a common platform is clear – reduced infrastructure cost, shared data, flexibility, scalability, centralised management and improved return on investment.

From a user perspective, increased productivity, improved efficiency, ease of use, automation of mundane tasks and improved inter-personnel communication.

Complementary seminars and workshops
In the future, smart technology will be a prerequisite for security solutions. Software advances and other intelligent devices - and the underlying technology - will play an indispensable role. Technical details and specifications will the success of IIPSEC is attributable in no small part by the integration of “End-User” presentations. 2006 will see an enhanced program of 24 separate educational seminars. To an ever greater extent the network security market is becoming customer-driven. Presented by some of the world’s leading experts in their field the IIPSEC Educational Programme has something for everyone.

  • Transportation Applications: Airports, highways, trains, buses, seaports, logistics
  • Commercial Applications: Hotels, shopping centres, offices, public housing, manufacturing
  • Utilities Applications: Power plants, distribution networks, water treatment, petrochemical
  • Education/Health Applications: Schools, colleges, universities, hospitals, surgeries
  • Government Applications: Military, prison, police, government buildings, town centres
  • Entertainment Applications: Casinos, sporting facilities, gaming, stadiums, theatres

Technical Seminar Programme
These educational seminars looks at the hardware and software used and how to design, configure and install network based security and building management solutions. Each session focuses on a theme allowing delegates to learn in a classroom style environment at one venue and at one time. Ideal for: Installers, Consultants, Salesman, VAR’s, Business Development & Project Managers, Facilities Managers, IT Managers, Channel Partners, Distributors, Security Practitioners, Business Owners, Technical Managers… in fact anyone who sees IP as an important technology in security and building management.

  • Introduction to IP
I  deal for those wishing to learn more about IP without the normal techno babble. The session not only covers the issues of attaching IP surveillance cameras, access control and intruder alarms to a network but also addresses the commercial, business and legislative considerations. The session is a general ‘starter pack’ to designing, configuring and implementing network based technology for both security and building management applications.
  • IP Surveillance
The seminar will discuss image compression, recording, remote transmission, archiving and copying of media. We investigate the critical issues involved in selecting, specifying and implementing such technology. The session also covers such topics as assessing bandwidth, frame rate recording, camera control (i.e. pan/tilt/zoom), archiving and retrieving images.
  • IP Access Control & Biometrics
Covering Surveillance, Recording, Access Control, Biometrics, XML, Wireless Technology, Smart Devices plus much more. This session looks at how by linking together such technology the security system of tomorrow will become almost self administrating. The session also looks at the most cost effective Alarm Video Verification or Live Video viewing system available over IP.
  • IP an Executive Briefing
This session takes a ‘joined up approach’ can generate major advantages and benefits at customers and higher profits for providers. It explores how convergence of services can lead to major savings by sharing existing infrastructure and how by using intelligent devices critical decisions can become self administrating. How to ensure your company is prepared and ready for the future.

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY

Kevin Fagan,
Event Manager

IIPSEC 2006
As Event Manager of IIPSEC 2006, Kevin is responsible for the educational content and development of the event. This includes media relations and overall strategy to increase awareness across new market sectors. Kevin started his career in the Security Industry over 30 years ago. After building a successful electronic security installation business he decided to turn his hand to distribution and created Video Imaging Supplies (VIS) back in 1994. It was during his time with VIS that he first became interested in Networking and IP. The company commenced selling this exciting new technology in 1996 when it signed a sole distribution agreement for the UK with a then relatively unknown small company called Axis Communications! Seizing on the market opportunities that he felt IP offered, in 1998 the company launched a new division named Ethernetcctv.com with the prime strategy of developing the growing business opportunities. After an approach from CCTV Distributors Norbain Video Imaging Supplies was sold in 2001. Kevin then looked at developing a ‘technology event’ around IP and IIPSEC 2003 was born. The show has grown year on year by over 50% supporting the need for such an event. In 2004 along with his business partner Paul Hennings Kevin developed the IP User Group (www.ipusergroup.com) with a specific aim of sharing information. The group now enjoys a corporate membership of over 80 companies and 6,000 members who all participate in the exchanging information. In December the group will be embarking on its 1st European tour starting in Brussels.
