Bringing together the world's leading Companies, Associations and Experts in all fields of Security. Security International is designed to inform and educate governments, buyers, specifiers and installers of the advancement of products and services in the ever-changing global security market place. Security International also focuses on government policies relating to protection, fire safety and health and safety management.

For a few minutes on the afternoon of September 11th I stood spellbound when one of my colleagues informed me of the first attack on the World Trade Centre. Like the day when Princess Diana died, it gave me an immediate feeling of disbelief, shock and horror that I will never forget.

When the second attack came we all sat spellbound watching the appalling events on television unfold in front of our eyes.
The shock of these visually horrific attacks is now fading. In the aftermath of the resulting ground war it is now dawning on many people that a cyber attack could have had more of a devastating effect on business and potentially been even more costly.

Whilst we were planning to launch our first issue of Security International later this year, after September 11th more organisations pressed for information in the short term.

The threat from terrorists is immeasurably small compared to the threats from the more common attacks on businesses such as computer viruses, internal fraud and common theft. Now, more than ever before, Managing Directors, Presidents, Group Directors and Departmental Heads all over the world need to be informed and educated about the important security issues their organisations face. More importantly, they need to be made aware as to which specialist companies can provide the relevant solutions to their needs.

In this issue of Security International we focus on areas of concern crucial to all of those involved with the procurement of security solutions.

We would like to thank all of our contributors for supporting our endeavours to provide the most up to date information available today.
I am proud to be associated with Security International as I feel anything that helps combat the troubles we faced last year will be of benefit to all. I look forward to hearing from anyone who would like to contribute to our future editions.

Security International would like to express deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the September tragedies.
