Wavelet Technology and Falcon Protec create the ultimate CCTV recording system for the transportation industry
by Chris Williams

Wavelet Technology and Falcon Protec have signed an exclusive partnership agreement that will provide the highest performance CCTV recording system for passenger safety on trains.

The 3 year contract allows Falcon Protec and Wavelet Technology to provide a total solution to the growing need for reliable and high quality CCTV systems on board passenger trains.

Falcon Protec commissioned Wavelet Technology to provide a full resolution 6-channel real time digital video recording and management system (DVRMS) that will be housed in a ruggedised enclosure able to withstand the harsh environment experienced on trains.

Using the proven performance and reliability of the Wavestore design, Wavelet Technology were able to realise the hardware electronics and operating system for the DVRMS within a record 15 weeks from receipt of the final specification.

Falcon Protec will manufacture and supply the units following testing in accordance with the mandatory climatic and mechanical type tests detailed in BS EN 50155, shock and vibration tests detailed in BS EN 61373, and EMC tests detailed in BS EN 50121-3-2.

John Tinson, Technical Director of Falcon said, “We researched the industry for the solution capable of meeting our demanding specification and selected Wavelet Technology, for the consummate competency that has developed the Wavestore solution. Their hardware and software team have proven to confirm our original decision, building the foundations for a strong partnership”.

Roger Isaacson, founder of Wavelet Technology said, “The performance of the Wavestore range of DVR’s is being proven in many different and demanding applications, and I am delighted that Falcon Protec has recognised the competency that is Wavelet Technology. Wavestore continues to be the DVRMS of choice for more and more organisations that have 24/365 applications and sophisticated networking and remote operational requirements”.

A wireless data network will convey CCTV images from trains to the Control Centre equipment using a 2.4GHz radio communications system, and enable recorded video to be downloaded remotely from the trains when they are not in service.
