MOBOTIX – Manufacturer of weatherproof mega-pixel network IP cameras
by Dr. Ralf Hinkel

IP Surveillance System "Out of the box".

Video and two-way audio over Ethernet without any software installation - as easy as installing a network printer!

As with every MOBOTIX camera a standard Web browser allows access to all camera functions as well as to view live and recorded images using the motion-JPEG standard. No additional recording or playback software is required because with all MOBOTIX cameras, event-driven ringbuffer recording to fileservers via network and in the internal memory is a standard feature. Playback via web browser is supported as well as time and date search of recorded events. With no activeX and no plug-ins, a higher level of network security is achieved.

The event-driven MOBOTIX cameras can be triggered to record by user-definable video motion regions as well as by integrated sensors like the passive IR detector, microphone or signal input. The arming of the recording and alarm messaging functions can be configured using time schedules and different sensor sources. Obscuring user-definable partial image areas is also supported by a variable time schedule.

FTP, Email, event-driven ringbuffer recording to fileservers, playback and search functions are included as well as quad or multi view of 20 cameras in one browser window.

The MOBOTIX cameras are already equipped with full-scale ISDN voice integration, which means that it is possible to establish a voice connection to the person in front of the camera from any phone, provided the camera is connected to an ISDN line. In case of an alarm, the camera can automatically place a voice message to a specific phone number, it can call alternative numbers (several times if desired) and it can wait for a confirmation PIN.

Patented Remote Access: With an ISDN phone call, the MOBOTIX camera can be instructed to dial into the Internet and to announce the dynamic IP address obtained from the ISP via the phone. Enter this number into any Internet browser from anywhere in the world, and you can access the live and the recorded images of the camera.

Using the MOBOTIX MxPEG video standard and the free MxPEG viewer software, a very low network load of about 1MBit for full frame and high resolution can be achieved. Viewing and recording of lip-synchronized audio is also featured along with high display frame rates of multiple cameras. For security applications the main advantages of MxPEG are the very short latency time from scene to screen, the multi-user interface with different frame rates simultanously and the high priority and quality coding of moving objects.

MOBOTIX cameras do not need an AC power outlet near the camera because they have built-in power splitters driven over Ethernet connection. Due to the low power consumption of 2.5 Watt, MOBOTIX cameras can be easily backed up over network cable from one singe point. The fibreglass reinforced PBT weatherproof IP65 housing needs no additional heating and features a wide operating temperature range from -30° ... 60° C (-22° ... 140° Fahrenheit).

MOBOTIX Dual lens mega-pixel outdoor day/night camera

The MOBOTIX Dual lens camera is equipped with a second image sensor and tele lens. The zoom function is accomplished by electronically switching to the tele lens. The wide-angle and tele view can be viewed individually, side-by-side or picture-in-picture.

The MOBOTIX Day & Night Camera is the top of the line outdoor model of the MOBOTIX network camera range featuring two image sensors with an automatic daylight and IR-sensitive lens switching. This is achieved electronically by measuring the scene illumination and guarantees a high reliability due to the absense of movable parts. The use of two lenses allows the focus for daylight and IR lens to be adjusted separately.
