Encrypted Governmental Message Exchange
by mils Electronic
More than 50 years of experience in the field of secure messaging for governmental applications have to a large extent determined the design of mils electronics 'Secure Messaging Solutions'.
As a result, the following products and options are available:
Products
MilsMessage A dedicated message encryption program for the exchange of encrypted messages within a typical governmental communication network (based on Windows personal computers).
MilsMail
A plug-in for MS Outlook to encrypt/decrypt e-mail messages without restricting the functionality of Outlook.
MilsFile
A plug-in for the Windows Explorer to encrypt files and folders.
Hardware Element
MilsCard USB 2.0 / PC-Card
A cryptographic security module that provides for storing keys and executing the cryptographic algorithms in a tamper-resistant environment.
Cryptographic Options
One Time Key
The standard method for the unbreakable encryption.
Proprietary Stream Cipher
MCA21 algorithm, the alternative encryption method.
Proprietary Block Cipher MBC algorithm, another alternative encryption method.
AES Block Cipher
Using the NIST standard algorithm.
Possible Network Configurations
The components and options of the Secure Messaging Solutions can be configured according to the existing messaging environment, so they usually meet the customers requirements with no need for modifications. The following examples show just two of the many configuration options that can be created using our secure messaging solutions.
Configuration 1: An MS Outlook based network is complemented by the MilsMail solution for sending encrypted e-mail among a closed group of users in the network.
Configuration 2:
A diplomatic messaging network is exclusively built on the dedicated message encryption program MilsMessage. Beside using the e-mail network, the clients can rely on the alternative radio links that are available at some exposed locations as a backup transmission service.
Customization
In the very unlikely case that the variety of possible configurations does not fulfill the customers requirements, mils electronic can adapt the functions of the secure messaging product family accordingly.
This customization process requires a thorough analysis of the customers needs and an accurate specification of the resulting product. mils electronics project managers are experienced in this process and are ready to work with the customers experts to find a satisfactory solution.
Mils electronic has carried out several successful customization projects over the years. The following examples demonstrate the diversity of these projects:
- Replacing the user interfaces of the programs with a non-Latin script
- Adapting the key management scheme and the message handling procedure to the customers specific regulations
- Introducing a cryptographic algorithm that is unique to the customer
- Adding an extra ordinary telecommunication service to the transmission options of the messaging solutions
