Complex shift models made easy

Integrated into a global network covering 500 locations in over 85 countries, some 13,000 K&N employees handle the distribution of orders by land, sea and air. The company manages massive warehouses and logistics centres, which call for a customisable and flexible access solution.

This was also the case for the new logistics centre at Gärtringen, south of Stuttgart where an Oracle-based installation of Visual Access for access control and Visual Time for time management was made. It is planned to introduce time management from at all primion locations in Germany.  

The breadth of experience that primion had in the area of integrated time management using PAISY together with the system modularity and the company's track record of the management of large projects convinced the decision-makers at K&N. A Project team was set up together with the Application Group Consulting company to implement the requirements that Kühne and Nagel had. 

After moving into the new logistics centre at Gärtringen, PAISY should be responsible for time calculation andAGC was made responsible for the parameter definition. In the future, time recording as well as the supply of time-related employee information should be done through primion time recording terminals. Due to internal restructuring, the primion team had to implement the time calculation based on complex shift models itself, within a very short time window.  

In this respect, the Correction macro module proved itself to be very useful. For the future, the time calculation for K&N employees will be done in the PAISY system and Visual Time will handle it for external workers. Flexibility in the software modules, highly qualified employees and timely implementation are all Project management features that a large company like Kühne & Nagel expects and they are features that convinced them that with primion they had made the right choice.
