NCSC HIGH-VALUE CARGO-SECURITY SEMINAR ATTRACTED 105 ATTENDEES
ANNAPOLIS, MD -- January 6, 2004 -- A seminar on protecting shipments of high-value cargo drew one the largest seminar crowds in the history of its sponsor, the National Cargo Security Council.
Chairman Eric Hoffer of CGM, Security Solutions, Inc., who heads NCSCs Seminars Committee, said 105 security managers from North America attended the Dec. 3-5 session in San Francisco, CA.
The seminar was an enlarged version of a 2002 cargo-security seminar on deterring in-transit theft of pharmaceuticals. The 2003 session added toiletries, fragrances and cosmetics plus tobacco, clothing, high- tech equipment and other high-value goods.
Attendees heard security experts discuss "Anatomy of a Theft," "Thefts of Specific Products," "The Role of Law-Enforcement Agencies," and "Developing a Risk Matrix."
One of the most popular presenters was Margaret Osborne, Deputy Director of the San Bernardino, CA District Attorney's Office. She detailed how to work with local prosecutors, bring a case to court and build full prosecution support.
